History
It was in 1895 in the small Swiss town of La Chaux-de-fonds that Rotary Watches was founded by Moise Dreyfuss. His famed attention to detail coupled with a keen business acumen ensured that whilst every material was (and still is) carefully chosen and each component assembled with absolute precision the watches represented extremely good value. This commitment to "value for money" quality watchmaking resulted in a business that grew quickly and now over 100 years later Rotary watches Ltd is an international company with timepieces sold in over 35 countries worldwide. Despite this growth Rotary has remained, like Millers Jewellers, very much a family business. The present managing director, Robert Dreyfuss, who took over the helm in 1989, being the great grandson of the founder and is as committed as ever to the founding principles of "quality and value".
Dolphin standard
The commitment to the art of watchmaking and technical innovation has manifested itself recently in the new 'Dolphin Standard'. Water resistance has traditionally been a characteristic of chunky sports watches, however now the majority of the watches in the Rotary ladies and gents ranges (even models which feature stone set bezels, delicate bracelets or ultra-slim cases) have been upgraded to the new, exclusive "Dolphin Standard" meaning that you and your watch can swim and dive all day. Dolphin standard watches are suitable for swimming, shallow diving, yachting, all water sports, bathing and showering.
Limited editions
Since late 2004 Rotary has been releasing 'Limited Edition' watches. Each edition is released at 6 monthly intervals and limited to 500 pieces worldwide. Each Rotary watch is individually numbered and is accompanied by a complimentary self-winding, hand crafted, oak-wood presentation box and an individually signed certificate of authenticity.
Rotary Watch Care
All Rotary watches are precision instruments and as such need to be maintained and looked after, including regular servicing which we at Millers Jewellers are able to undertake for you. Prices begin at £25.00 which includes a 6 month guarantee.
- Bracelet and cases:
- Bracelets and watch cases should not be brought into contact with corrosive materials such as hairsprays, detergents or perfumes..
- Leather straps
- Leather straps on the dolphin standard range have been treated to prevent water staining, despite this you should avoid prolonged soaking of the strap in water. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause the colour to fade and direct contact with solvents, detergents and perfumes should be avoided.
- Sterling Silver
- All Rotary sterling silver watches are rhodium plated to reduce tarnishing and therefore do not require regular cleaning.
Nickel compliancy:
All Rotary watches conform to the EEC directive on nickel content. They comply with the procedural tests EN1810, EN1811 and EN12472 that form part of the directive to ensure the release rate is no greater than 0.5ug/cm2/week on products in direct and prolonged contact with the skin.
